About Eleonora

Hi, I’m Eleonora and I’m Italian, born and raised in Latina. I studied philology at La Sapienza University of Rome from which I graduated in 2003 with top honors.

In 2004 I landed in Greece thanks to an EU program called Leonardo, aimed at professional training in the tourism sector. Since then I have always worked in tourism. After several years of experience in the hotel and cruise industries, I began working with incoming travel agencies, in the booking of services and in the design of travel itineraries. In 2009 I moved permanently to the city of Thessaloniki. Since 2016 I have been working full time as a tour leader between Italy and Greece. Furthermore, between 2018 and 2020 I attended the professional training program at the state school for tourist guides in Athens, obtaining my national license in August 2020.

Over the years, I have collaborated with local and foreign agencies, guiding travelers and groups throughout mainland Greece and occasionally on the islands. Being a tourist guide is a demanding profession on every level: mental, cultural and physical. It requires patience, dedication, extensive preparation and a genuine passion. For this reason it is important to rely on a qualified and licensed guide, as required by the Greek legislation.

This site is aimed primarily at private individuals (up to 5 people) and only offers a guide service, not additional services such as hotel reservations, transfers, car rental, etc.

Walking tour of Thessaloniki

Have you just arrived in Thessaloniki and would you like to discover the history of this fascinating metropolis beyond its more obvious aspects? This walking tour of the historic center will give you a comprehensive overview of the city.

We meet in the city center, at the location which we will arrange according to your convenience. We will visit together: The Rotonda (optional interior visit), the ruins of the palace of Galerius, the White Tower, the statue of Alexander the Great, the Church of St. Sophia, Aristoteles square with its market, the Roman Forum and the church of St Demetrius.

Ideally this walking tour ends in the Ladadika district near the port, where you can finally enjoy a well-deserved drink with a sea view.

This itinerary is entirely on foot and lasts approx. 3 hours, depending on your pace and your interest in exploring the sites in greater depth.

Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki

The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki represents a unique window into the history of the region. Located in the city center, it houses extraordinary artifacts that talk about art, history, religion and daily life in ancient Macedonia.

Through rich and well-preserved collections, we will admire treasures from the Classical, Hellenistic and Roman periods: gold jewelry, sculptures, mosaics, ceramics, weapons and everyday objects that testify to the prestige and cultural achievements of ancient Macedonia.

Visiting the museum with a tourist guide allows you to go beyond the simple viewing of objects: each room becomes an interpretative journey that places every artifact within its broader cultural and symbolic context, enabling a deeper understanding of the civilization to which it belonged and of the people who produced it, used it and invested it with meaning.

Royal tombs and Polycentric museum of Vergina

The Royal Tombs of Vergina represent one of the most extraordinary archaeological sites in Greece and in the entire ancient world. Identified with Aigai, the first capital of the Macedonian kingdom, the necropolis preserves the burials of the Macedonian royal dynasty, including the famous tomb attributed to Philip II, father of Alexander the Great.

The guided tour offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in the heart of the religious and political beliefs of ancient Macedonia and to understand the decisive role of Philipp II in the rise of Macedonia as a superpower of its time.

The underground museum, built above the burials, preserves funerary treasures of exceptional beauty: golden crowns, precious armors and objects proceeding from the royal court.

A journey into the afterlife, into the reign of Hades and Persephone, as depicted in the famous fresco of Tomb I within the royal tumulus. An unmissable destination when traveling through Greek Macedonia.

The visit lasts approx. 90 minutes. If you are passionate about history and knowledge, I highly recommend visiting with me also the Polycentric museum of Vergina, which displays the artifacts unearthed during decades of excavations of the necropolis and was conceived as a complementary experience to the Royal Tombs. Modern and inspired by an artistic vision of museum exhibition design, it is ideally dedicated to the immortal memory of Alexander the Great.
